The Caloocan Historical and Cultural Studies Association (CHCSA) held its founding meeting on the 4th of July, 2020 via Zoom. The organization aims to study and propagate the history of Caloocan, to promote its local culture and to guard its heritage. What transpired in the meeting was the laying of plans and policies of the organization. Consequently, the association elected its own Governing Board. The officers are as follows:
President: Marlon Silvoza
Vice-President: Maria Melissa Lacerna-Dona
Secretary: Marmielyn Sinocruz
Treasurer: Marlon Peralta
Auditor: Tee Jei Lei
Public Information Officers: Wogie Pacala and Jeremiah Montejo

The CHCSA has already coordinated with other civic organizations such as Caloocan Young Leaders Initiative (CYLI) and some of the local officials of Caloocan. Both have pledged their support to this young organization.

The Historic City of Caloocan has two previous historical organizations before the founding of CHCSA. The Historical Committee of Caloocan City’s Citizen Council was established in the 1960s, headed by Dr. Fausto J. Galauran, the CHCSA’s Vice-President’s grandfather. Afterwards, the Caloocan Historical Association was established. The CHCSA sees itself as the next historical organization that will continue the aim of keeping history alive in Caloocan.
