ABOUT THE JOURNAL

Definition:

TALA is a Filipino term which refers to list or records in history that gives primary information about the past events that shaped the world today. TALA is also associated with a bright star. History is considered as the mother of the human and social sciences since it serves as the light to other disciplines of which complexities may be understood through historical research or inquiry.

The connection between these two terms will give us a definition that history, as a tool for education, serves as the light to understand the present by considering the past as its moving force in solving recent problems and issues of the global society.

TALA is an Open Access Journal (OAJ) in History with the conviction of the significance of historical research in understanding human events. As open-access, it operates to impart credible historical knowledge for free; and as a journal, its editorial team shall ensure that articles are properly screened and guided by the double-blind review. It accommodates studies in general history: local and international, along with its many facets such political, social, economic, cultural, diplomatic and religious, to name a few.

This also serves as an avenue for review of published historical researches, reference and textbooks, and other materials directly related to historical research.

This journal is open to all professional historians, people with interest in historical studies, and for those who have a deep passion for the discipline.

Mission:

To introduce an open access journal in Philippine historical research and to take advantage of the use of the internet as a vehicle for the realization of the importance of historical studies in the growth and development of humanity.

Vision:

The journal envisions itself to be the pioneer open access journal in history in the Philippines. By providing an accessible journal that is free for all, it also envisions to uplift the essence of historical research in the plight of emerging technological advancement.
